Josh Lindstrom

Teaching Pastor

Originally from Toronto, Josh is the founding pastor of Salem Chapel. Josh has a B.A. in Music from the University of Western Ontario and an M.A. in Christian Thought from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He and his wife, Kimberley, have been married for 13 years and have three sons, Caleb, Jesse, and Ezra.

After having served as a youth pastor for eight years, first at North Park Community Church in London, Ontario and then at Harvest Bible Chapel in Rolling Meadows, Illinois; Josh shifted his ministry focus to serve as the teaching pastor of Salem Chapel in July of 2004. Josh’s heart for ministry is the bold proclamation of God’s Word. Emphasizing the enduring truth of Scripture and its practical application, Josh desires to see God move powerfully among His people.

Josh loves being with his wife, aiming for “dad of the year,” and anything that involves water or football. He also spends time reading, writing, and asking for another bulldog.

Bill Ketner

Executive Pastor

Bill Ketner currently serves as the Executive Pastor. Bill graduated from the University of Oklahoma and received his MDiv from Southwestern Seminary. He worked in healthcare for over 25 years and is thankful for his time there, but humbled by the opportunity to be a part of the team at Salem Chapel. He and his wife, Cindy have two great daughters, Jane and Claire. In his free time, Bill loves spending time with his wife, being involved in whatever his daughters are interested in, traveling to the beach and running.

Bill is passionate about seeing Jesus transform lives. He wants Salem Chapel to be a welcoming place for young and old, new and experienced in their faith, that all may know Christ and grow in their walks with Him.

Matt Stowell

Pastor of Church Life

Matt Stowell grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and graduated college with a B.A. in Youth Ministry from MBI in 1996. The past 2 years Matt and his family lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand running a member care office for ELIC. Matt has spent over 17 years serving the church in various pastoral roles, from worship to adult ministries. He has an amazing wife, Debbie, and 3 awesome kids, Maggie, Sophie, and Eli.

Dave Jacobson

Pastor of Family Ministries & Creative Director

Dave Jacobson leads and gives direction to our children's, middle school and high school ministries. He also heads up our creative department.

Dave and his wife, Brie, moved to Winston-Salem from Chicago to come on staff at Salem Chapel in 2006 after graduating from Moody Bible Institute. They have three little redheaded girls, Ellie, Ava and Ruth, and love being parents. Dave’s passion is working with students and children. He has a strong desire to see the families of our church developing at home in a faithful and growing relationship with Jesus. He also enjoys all things Apple, camping, photography, disc golf, and Chipotle.

Mark Duncan

Director of Middle School

Mark Duncan oversees the middle school ministry. He has a real heart for students and is crazy enough to hang out with our middle school crowd. He has a strong desire to see students begin and grow in a relationship with Jesus.

Mark graduated from Piedmont Baptist College in May of 2004 with a degree in Biblical Studies. One month later, Mark married his beautiful bride Allison. They have been attending Salem Chapel since 2007 and Mark joined the staff in April 2008. In 2010, God blessed them with their first child, Charlotte. Some of Mark’s interests include reading, running, kung fu, music, and technology.

Ryan Plantz

Director of High School

Ryan Plantz is a native of Chicago, Illinois and moved to Winston-Salem with his family in February of 2010. A graduate of Moody Bible Institute (BA in Bible), his hope for our high school students is that they would find their sole satisfaction in Jesus.

Ryan enjoys being with people and spending time with his wife, Kerry, and their two sons, Ethan and Miles. Ryan also enjoys reading, watching the Cubs, and adventure.

Derrick DeLain

Director of Church Life

Derrick is a 2010 graduate from Piedmont Baptist College and holds a BA in Bible with a minor in counseling. He has been a part of Salem Chapel since 2010. Derrick helps to oversee Community Groups, Weekend Service Teams, and Church Membership in our Church Life Ministry.

Derrick and his wife Rachel have a very loving daughter named Tru. His interests include his beautiful girls, good food, reading, and sports

Jake France

Director of Worship

Jake France is one of our Directors of Worship. Jake moved to Winston-Salem from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2004. He was involved in Salem Chapel as a high school student and interned under the Worship Department in 2010.

Jake’s heart is to see God glorified and to lead others in worship in spirit and in truth. He currently studies at Liberty University at the campus of local coffee shops (i.e. online student). He is pursuing a BA in Religion. Jake enjoys writing music, recording, burritos, and traveling.

Kim Shumaker

Administrative Director & College Contact

Kimberly was born and raised in Winston-Salem. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Psychology & Spanish. After she graduated, she spent 2 years living and working in Costa Rica as a Community Development Coordinator with the Peace Corps. She loves Jesus and wants others to love Him too. She also loves meeting new people, laughing, traveling, and going to the lake.

Kim joined the staff in August 2010 and currently works as the assistant to Pastor Josh and the college contact.

Jen Jones

Church Life Assistant

Jen grew up in Asheville, NC and graduated from NC State University with a B.S. in Textile Engineering. After working at camp in the summers, she realized her passion for ministry and spent the next six years on staff at Camp Cedar Cliff. Now at Salem Chapel, Jen is excited to help people get connected in the church community and grow in their walks with Jesus.

Since Jen is new to the Winston-Salem area, she loves exploring the city, meeting new people, being outside, and spending time with her husband Jeff.

Kara Nolle

Office Assistant

Kara Nolle moved from Southern Illinois to Winston-Salem for college in August 2009. She graduated from Piedmont International University in May 2012 with a degree in Christian Ministries and Counseling. Currently, Kara is a graduate student at Liberty University. She is pursuing her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling.

Kara has a passion for people and a strong desire to love Jesus better. This passion led her to Salem Chapel. She began at Salem Chapel as a Family Ministries Intern in March 2012 and joined the staff at Salem Chapel in August 2012. Kara enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and coffee.
